IS THE BIBLE AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY?
A scholarly response on what the Hebrew and Aramaic Bible says concerning LGBTI people.
Paul said, “Do not lie one to another..” (Col. 3:9). True Christians don’t lie but speak the truth. Every believer needs to be “rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15 NKJV). A basic understanding of the holy languages is essential so that Christians can preach the truth. This is because the English Bible has thousands of renderings that are different than the Hebrew and Aramaic Bible. On the study about homosexuality, there is some deliberate forgery of God’s word. This has caused many Christians to be deceived and to preach deceit. Consequently, this pamphlet is designed to end the ignorances of lovers of truth from deceivers on whether a person can be gay and Christian. There are a lot of Christians that know you can be gay and Christian but they conceal the truth because they are afraid to go against created social norms or their denomination. They are afraid of what the ignorant may say or do. This is similar to the hypocrisy of Peter and Barnabas that Paul had to rebuke (Gal. 2:11-14). Some Christians are miserable and want to make someone else’s life miserable so they use oppressive and blasphemous interpretations of Scripture. These Christians have undergone some evil, and so they recompense evil with their interpretations of Scripture, falsely attributing their hatred with God. These fake Christians are not exercising self-control. Paul said in the surrounding verses for them to: put off…anger, wrath..blasphemy, foul communication…And put on the new life which is renewed in knowledge after the pattern in which it was originally created.” (Col. 3:8,10 Lamsa). Other people assume the Christian name but aren’t really believers. These deceitful workers (2 Cor. 11:13) want to oppress, control and pervert the Gospel of Christ. They have their own beliefs that they obtained from their upbringing, society, false religion or other source (2 Peter 2:1). It is a good thing that the LORD will not let these false brethren go unpunished. Religion has been used to exclude others because of that person’s ignorance, hatred or attitude of superiority. In Bible times, those that were hated and oppressed were orphans (& gay men), widows (& lesbians), women (including trans-women) and foreigners to name a few. Since the word ya-thom/yath-ma can mean both "a orphan" and "a gay man," the Shemitic language has a more specific word for a homosexual (i.e. trusted one or eunuch (bedroom guard, etc.).
The following verses will show some of the lies that scholars have put into a particular Bible translation or Lexicon. They have no right to add words, delete words, translate the text biasly to establish a teaching, amplify hate or eliminate meanings of foreign words.
Presently, most New Testaments are translated from the Greek Text. Hate filled scholars have put their prejudice in our Bible. In the Today’s English Version (TEV), the translators translated the words ma-la-koi and ar-se-no-koi-tai as "homosexual perverts.” Even if these scholars believe these words refer to homosexuals, they deliberately add the word perverts, because of their own prejudice. At Jude 7 it says: “As Sodom and Gomorrah...having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh...,”: (NKJV). The actual Greek says that the people went after other flesh, which is referring to the foreigners. Some translators translate the underlined portion as the people committing perversion (TEV) and practiced unnatural vice (New American Bible [Catholic]). Remember, people pick and choose verses out of the Bible to justify their own prejudices. In the (NIV), the translators deliberately add the word “sinful” in their translation of Romans 1:24: “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.” The word sinful is not in the Greek text, nor in any other English Bible. In the Living Bible, it states: “Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin.” (Leviticus 18:22 THE LIVING BIBLE TYNDALE first printing 1987). The Hebrew word to-e-vah is translated enormous sin (Living) and abomination (KJV), but has the primary meaning of “a despised thing” or “an abhorrence.” Also, for the New Living Translation, it translates Leviticus 18:22 as: “Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin.” When one consults the Greek-English Lexicons on what are the definitions of some Greek words, one also finds some deception here. Scholars are deleting definitions for the Greek words. For the word ma-la-kos, Strong has this word meaning only “soft,” and “effeminate.” However, Strong’s Concordance says to see: THAYER - entry 387d under that word. Thayer’s Lexicon also defines ma-la-kos as: “delicate.” That’s an obvious meaning for ma-la-kos. Sometimes a Lexicon (Dictionary) will give an English word derived from Latin and all the Latin meanings of that word are meant. The Latin word “delicatus” means: “soft, delicate, luxurious, voluptuous, etc.” Liddell and Scott also has this word meaning "delicate" along with "someone that is morally weak, lacking in self-control, and indulgent.” Vine has the word ma-la-kos denoting homosexuality and also “someone that is addicted to sins of the flesh, voluptuous.” So Strong may have deliberately left out the definition for ma-la-kos as an indulgent person for his own advantage; to make people not question if the word ma-la-kos carries the definition of a homosexual. For Strong’s definition for the word to-e-vah, he adds a definition to this word as: Prop. something disgusting (mor); knowing full well that this word doesn’t mean this, nor can he find this word to carry that definition anywhere in the Bible in context. There are many more examples I could give, but this should suffice you to see that there is some deliberate forgery of what the Hebrew and Greek actually says. There is a lot of ignorance on the subject of homosexuality, however, a lot of scholars know you can be gay and Christian; but they want to oppress. They use the Bible for power and try to use religion to control society according to their beliefs. Also, there are some hate filled and oppressive verses in the Bible about women, which is not what the Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek says.
